Scope of the ConferenceThis fourth international interdisciplinary conference in the series follows successful events in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpar and Brisbane. The last conference in the series was held in 2002 and this Fourth International Conference on Child and Adolescent Mental Health will provide an opportunity to share developments in research and practice since the previous conference. In recent years, concerted efforts have been directed towards the development, implementation, and evaluation of empirically supported assessment and treatment practices with children, adolescents and their families. Moreover, there has been a shift towards systems of care that mandate mental health services in the context of the child’s family and social ecology. Progress has been made in advancing the scope and quality of our services as a result of these developments. This conference will bring together mental health and educational experts from multiple disciplines and from around the world to discuss and evaluate the current status of these new and exciting developments. In as much as the prevalence and expression of child and adolescent psychopathology may differ across countries and cultures, it is imperative that we share our knowledge and make explicit the lessons we have collectively learned in our attempts to provide evidence-based and state-of-the-art practices with children, adolescents, and their families. Lessons learned from different cultures will be especially welcome. The conference will be of interest to psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and other mental health experts. FormatThe conference will comprise plenary keynote lectures from internationally renowned speakers, research symposia, high quality refereed contributed oral and interactive poster presentations and commercial exhibits. In addition there will be a number of pre-conference workshops on the afternoon of Wednesday 4 October 2006. Topics will include:
